Media-Providence Friends School (MPFS) is thrilled to announce the expansion of its early childhood program with the addition of another full-day kindergarten classroom, beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. This two-classroom expansion reflects MPFS's commitment to providing a nurturing and engaging educational experience for its youngest learners.
MPFS’ full-day kindergarten program currently offers children a comprehensive and enriching curriculum within a supportive and collaborative environment. The extended school day will allow for deeper exploration of academic concepts, enhanced social-emotional development, and increased opportunities for creative expression.
“We are delighted to expand our kindergarten program and offer families the option of a full-day experience,” said Jon Hall, Head of School at Media-Providence Friends School. “Our goal is to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning, and the full-day schedule will allow us to further cultivate children’s curiosity, creativity, and sense of community.”
Key features of the new full-day kindergarten program include:
- Full-Day Schedule: Children will benefit from an extended school day, providing ample time for academic exploration, play-based learning, and social interaction.
- Small Class Sizes: MPFS maintains small class sizes with an average 8:1 student:teacher ratio, ensuring individualized attention and personalized learning experiences for each child.
- Quaker Values: The program will be rooted in Quaker values, emphasizing peace, simplicity, equality, community, and integrity. Children will learn to respect themselves and others, develop empathy, and cultivate a sense of social responsibility.
- Engaging Curriculum: The curriculum will be designed to foster children’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development through hands-on activities, creative projects, and collaborative learning experiences.
- Literacy Program: Our literacy program is guided by the science of reading. We integrate research-based strategies with hands-on, interactive experiences that make learning to read fun! Children are immersed in rich conversations and engaging stories on their journey toward becoming fluent and expressive readers. Learn more about the science of reading at MPFS.
- Experienced Educators: The kindergarten classrooms will be led by experienced and dedicated educators who have advanced degrees in Early Childhood education and are passionate about early childhood education.
Media-Providence Friends School provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can thrive. "Maddie adored her time in Kindergarten at MPFS, especially nature walks, playing at Glen Providence, bonding with her 'big buddy' in the upper school, and her amazing teachers," writes MPFS parent John Pitts. The school's commitment to Quaker values and academic excellence creates a unique and transformative learning experience. “Our daughter wakes up every day filled with enthusiasm and excitement for school, and that gives us so much joy!” writes MPFS Kindergarten parent Angela Kent. “We see her grow more and more each day.”
